I'm getting deliriously close to finishing my remains of the day journal. It will be the first journal I've ever filled completely before abandoning and moving on. I've been working on finishing up some pages I started months ago but never got back to. Most of them I'm not absolutely in love with but they are meaningful enough to me to finish recording or working through. And it feels great to have them done, like I'm actually accomplishing something for a change.
My favorite thing about this type of journal is all the ephemera and random goodies attached to every page. I've always collected this kind of junk from my everyday life but usually find it difficult to actually work it into my journaling process. It rarely seems to fit or be pretty enough for me. But this journal is not about being pretty but about salvaging, recording, recycling, and remembering. It is tactile and expressive and...well, fat. I can barely close the thing! I think that's my favorite part.

Love it! I am planning on taking that class soon and can't wait to make my own bursting beautiful chaotic journal myself!

Yeah I like the salvaging of the bits too, which is why I am actually WRITING in mine too. I love BUYING journals, but then I never use them. I just collect them. I like how chunky the RODs are too. Makes for a satifying mittful.

I love your ROD...I finished mine about two weeks ago...If you want go to my website and take a look at mine...I didn't use any fabric...it's mostly all found paper. I gave mine to my sister for her birthday.
Cheers!

Great journal! What are the dimensions, wide and tall? I LOVE big, FAT journals. Was "Remains of the Day" a class or just your own version of an art journal? I have let my journaling slide and really want to get back to it. So I'm always looking for new ideas.

This journal is fabulous -- you've done a great job. I hope mine looks a quarter as cool some day :)

Love your ROD journal. Inspiration to work in mine. I enjoy making journals and then put them aside ... but this one I want to actually fill up. Glad to hear others have trouble staying with projects :-).

I have absolutely the same problem, I keep starting journals and not finishing them. I look back and decide, I actually dont like what I have previously done and move on to something new.
I am going to have a go at these wonderful journals. Well done, yours looks brilliant.
