We're all settled in, if settled in means unpacking all the boxes that are going to get unpacked. Setting up house was fairly easy as most of our stuff is still in boxes in the basement. We are planning on staying in this rental house for 6 months or so until we can sell our old house and buy a new one so I tried only to unpack the necessary things we'd actually use in the next 6 months. Most of bits of art and decor are still boxed up. I was thinking that we wouldn't really need that stuff, but I think I underestimated how important it is for me to be surrounded by my pretty things so I ended up pulling out a bunch of stuff for the most important room of the house: the art/school room.
Isn't it cute? With all those great cabinets and ledges?? Oh, the things I could do to fix this up into the bestest art room ever..but I won't. I have to remember...just 6 months, just 6 months.
Oh, yeah. This is also the laundry room, but that seems so incidental it's hardly worth mentioning. And this is barely a fraction of my art supplies (notice the complete absence of any fabric!) but it is nice to have the things I'm working with now at my fingertips.
Despite my very comfortable new art room, I've had trouble really getting back into my art routine with the whole transition of moving. Slowly but surely, though, I'm trying to push through the resistance and a few journal pages have popped up here and there.

i love the shot of the journals all in a row on the countertop. they're so pretty!! i just want to pick them up and touch them and s l o w l y turn the pages. beautiful.

I was thinking the same thing. I love the fabric journals all lined up. do you have any details of how you made them or pictures of the fronts and back? I would love to see more of them? I am going to get lost on your blog now...so maybe i will find them myself... off i go!

Congratulations on your move. The art room school room has such potential with those windows, ledges and cabinets. Even thought it's only a 6 month stint, I can see many happy hours in there.
cheers from

The art room is so charming. I can see how tempting it would be to decorate. I love what you have done with the room so far. I hope you and yours are settling in nicely. Love to you all. xoxoxo

I like how the word 'art' on the signs is three times the size of the word 'school'...!

Love the light and it is a really sweet room. Yes it is 6 months, but enjoy the 6 months in such a lovely room that looks that cute without having to do any more to it!!
