We survived Hurricane Dolly but we are still without power so the kids and I have moved on to Austin to stay with family for the duration. It is surprising the difference 60 miles inland can make. At least on a category 2 hurricane. At our hotel, we saw a lot of rain but very little wind and were completely taken back when after several days we were finally able to make it home. Thankfully, our house was intact, the chicken coop was still standing, and all the chickens were accounted for. But we did have some water damage, lots of downed utility wires, and lost lots of trees. (Before pic here.)
On the bright side, any excuse to go to Austin is a good one, and a special friend is coming up tomorrow and I get to show her all my favorite haunts around town. Plus, I'm having lots of time to work on my blanket, so I'll have a few fun things to blog about. I hate being away from home and my sweet husband right now, but it will be so nice to wait it all out here and return to a somewhat normal if treeless home. Hey, and, if nothing else, getting wrapped up in the hurricane made us forget some of the other not-so-pleasant things going on around here. If only for a while.

what a bummer...so, so sorry! hope things get back to normal soon
