farewell
My Grandmother passed away this week and because we were away from home, my father's family was unable to reach us so we missed her funeral. I hate funerals, everything about them, but it breaks my heart to have missed hers. My mother was a single mom who had to go back to work when I was only a few weeks old. I stayed with my Grandmother every day as a young child and some of my most special memories are of her. Her beautiful voice singing hymns and songs to me. ("You are my sunshine" will always remind me of her.) The tinkling sound of her giggle, so childlike. Her pink lipstick, clip-on earrings ("ear bobs") and darkest black hair. She was the definition of a lady and very few people have influenced more the kind of woman I want to be.
I miss you.

How sad for you, I'm sorry. I never had a grandmother growing up. My dad's mom lived across the country and died when I was little and my mom's mom died 6 years before I was born...I've always been envious of friends that have the "grandmother"...holidays, cooking, presents, cards, etc...
the pieces you've posted are awesome & your work is ALWAYS inspirational!!

I am so very sorry for your loss. I loved my grandmother so much, and still think of her often. When I think of her, I always say, "Hello" and "I miss you", because I think that when I think of her, she is near me and can hear.
How wonderful that you have that song to remember her by!
many blessings to you,
Gwen

I'm so sorry for your loss. I too spent much time with my grandmother as a child, and it made a real impact on my art -- she taught me to sew, knit, crochet, tat, etc., etc.
My grandmother died in 1973 and I STILL miss her.
God Bless
