Work In Progress...uh, Monday

Wipdesk_1

Does it look like I've been a busy bee? (I said busy not messy. hmph) Well, I have been although my desk always looks like this. The problem is switching between painting and sewing when you only have one desk and the limited counter space is covered with piles of fabric and paper and a few things I'm scared to look at. But I don't ever want to complain about my studio space, ever, ever, because I'm terribly thankful for it, small though it is. The truth is no big shocker: I've got way more stuff than I have room for. (I almost typed "more stuff than I need" but need is such a relative term....)

Work needing to be finished:

  • Curtains from the above fabrics
  • Patchwork bag to send in for possible publication
  • Final additions to Legacy article, due out next year ;-)
  • 2 Alphabetica journals that needed to be passed on to the next player weeks ago
  • Olive & Archie, etc. I will do this, I will do this...
  • New skirt for me out of this fabric
  • This flouncy skirt for Maisey (pattern from SewZanne's Fabrics)
  • And this fabulous Farbenmix dress (also from SewZanne's)
  • New wool stitched pot holders as in this cool book (mine were left at a party, so this really is a need)
  • Denyse Schmidt oven mitt (the same one I talked about making months ago)
  • And--I might as well say it--pretty much everything from this book. More on that here.

No biggie, right? Eeek.

I can completely empathize with your W.I.P. S. I have my machine in the kitchen, fabric in the front room, and desk filled with paint, paper, ephemera, etc... Goind back and forth from paper media to textile can be a bit stressful. I have different mind sets for each medium. You have some fab projects in the work and I can not wait to see them when they are done. :D

Debra, Your list makes me feel better! Can't wait to see Maisey's Flouncy Skirt and Dress. Hope she gets to model them for us. Debbie O

so can we vote on which projects we want you to do first--I'm voting for the wool stitched potholders (sounds cool) and the skirt for you (I love the fabric)...:)

I'm so in the mood to be sewing clothes right now. I just made my first top for Caitlin from Ottobre. Very fun. I ordered the women's pattern issue. Like you, my list is so long. Looking forward to seeing some completion inspiration. Go Debra go.

Wow, this looks like my craft pile , glad Im not the only one with tons of thoughts of millions of projects in my head & on the table!

You have a lofty list, glad to see it's all coming together. You wrap your presents so beautifully. I paint and sew at the same table so I know your pain!!LOL

Happy Holidays to you.

THINK

  • I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a pretier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me. --Isaac Newton
